Meeting with Israel’s Ambassador to the UN, Mr. Danny Danon — The Report’s Role in the Global Fight Against Sexual Crimes During Terrorist Attacks

As part of our team’s official visit to the UN, we held a meeting with Israel’s Ambassador to the UN, Mr. Danny Danon, during which we presented the findings of the report on the sexual crimes committed by Hamas during the terrorist attack. The report, which for the first time establishes a factual and legal foundation on the sensitive issue of the evidentiary challenges, includes dozens of recommendations for policy changes at the national level, particularly in the areas of identification, documentation, and official recognition of sexual crimes committed as part of a terrorist attack strategy.

Ambassador Danon demonstrated a deep commitment to promoting the issue on UN platforms and expressed appreciation for the professional and courageous work of the research team. The meeting discussed ways to integrate the report’s findings as a universal lesson to change the international discourse around these crimes, beyond treating them as a new phenomenon in a specific conflict. Consequently, the need arose to lead an international call to action, based on the knowledge, experience, and lessons we have drawn from our difficult experience.
